Admit cards are due on 4 January 2027. The exam is held over three weekends: 6 and 7, 13 and 14, and 20 and 21 February 2027. Results are due on 19 March 2027.

New registrations by Indian nationals must be done through DigiLocker. Candidates are told not to delete their DigiLocker account after applying, because further communication will go only to the DigiLocker account used for the application.
Who runs it and how long a score lasts
GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and the IITs for the National Coordination Board under the Ministry of Education. IIT Madras is the organising institute for 2027. A GATE score is valid for three years.
Why it matters
- GATE scores are used for M.Tech and PhD admissions and by many public sector companies for recruitment, and the 2027 exam adds a new Robotics and Automation paper.
What remains uncertain
- The organisers say the dates are liable to change.
- Exam city allotment has not yet been announced.
