SHOWTT

Privacy and reading choices

Reading

Reading does not require an account. The site stores your optional advertising preference in your browser so you can change it without signing in. This implementation installs no advertising or third-party analytics scripts. When Showtt's own reading statistics are switched on, each page sends Showtt anonymous counts: the page and day, a broad group for how you arrived (such as a search engine, a social network or direct), the device type (phone, tablet or computer), how far you scrolled and whether you stayed 30 seconds, searches on this site (never ones containing an email address, web address or long number) and which source links in the public index were opened. No cookies, identifiers, IP addresses or full referring addresses are stored, and nothing is combined into a profile of you. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, nothing is sent. Showtt keeps only daily totals, for up to 400 days, to plan its coverage. Hosting services may process request metadata for delivery and security.

Do not place personal information in a search query or URL. Showtt does not send complaint contact details to advertising services.

Newsroom and submitted concerns

Named newsroom accounts use a signed, HTTP-only session cookie. Staff account data, permission checks and audit events support authorization and accountability. Login and complaint rate limits use keyed hashes rather than retaining raw network identifiers in the rate-limit record.

The complaint form stores the name, email, URL, category and message you submit in the core database for authorized handling. Avoid sending sensitive data. A production operator must publish an actual retention schedule, monitored privacy contact and any required rights process before launch.

Service providers

The intended deployment uses Vercel for the application, a separate Neon/PostgreSQL database for core records and private Cloudflare R2 storage for media. Optional MongoDB stores a limited AI-output mirror with a 30-day expiry. If an AI provider is configured, authorized newsroom inputs are processed by that provider; reader complaints are not AI inputs.

Provider accounts, processing terms, regions and required notices must be reviewed for the actual deployment. A browser preference is not a certified consent-management platform. Advertising remains disabled until applicable consent and publisher requirements are implemented and reviewed.

Your choice

You can refuse or withdraw optional advertising preference and continue reading. The current build serves no Google ads regardless of that choice. Contact the configured operator to ask about a submitted concern or personal data.
